The offshore tractor tug is developed for a wide range of offshore activities. The vessel is provided with a large deck area, safe working areas and a spacious accommodation for crew and boarding parties. The operational profile of an offshore tractor tug combined with the chosen propulsion power generation configuration determines the fuel oil consumption of the vessel. In order to achieve optimal fuel economy owners can select from a wide range of propulsion power generation configurations namely diesel direct, hybrid , father son and diesel electric. The offshore tractor tug is designed with a large bollard pull for the size of the vessel.
The z-drive system, two 2 Rolls Royce FP units, can accept power from the diesel engines, electric motors and from both power sources. The electric motors are powered by three 3 CAT C9. The Rolls Royce hybrid system, allows for the vessel to operate direct-diesel, diesel-electric or fully-electric.
A tugboat or tug is a type of vessel that maneuvers other vessels by pushing or pulling them either by direct contact or by means of a tow line. Tugs typically move vessels that either are restricted in their ability to maneuver on their own, such as ships in a crowded harbor or a narrow canal, or those that cannot move by themselves, such as barges , disabled ships, log rafts , or oil platforms. Tugboats are powerful for their size and strongly built, and some are ocean-going. Some tugboats serve as icebreakers or salvage boats.
